Maizy

ADOPTED!!!!

Maizy is a beautiful tan pit bull puppy. We believe she is about eight weeks old.

Maizy came to us from another rescue who wanted her to have the best chance at adoption. We know her family is out there somewhere, they just need to find her!

Maizy is sweet, loving and a little scared. She is ready for someone to love her.

Maizy will be spayed and up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption. Maizy is at West Chester Pet Care in West Chester Ohio. Please stop by and see if this little girl could be part of your family.

Thomas
ADOPTED!!!!

Thomas is an adorable ten week old pit bull puppy with beautiful brindle fur and a dark face. And what eyes he has!

Thomas was abandoned on a doorstep and ended up at a county kill shelter that does not adopt out pitties. He was rescued by the wonderful people at Fort Thomas Animal Hospital who brought him to us.

Thomas is a special dog who deserves a family that will love him, a family that would never abandon him. Thomas will be neutered and up to date on all shots prior to adoption. He is at West Chester Pet Care in West Chester Ohio- please stop by and see how great this little boy is!

Frankie
ADOPTED!!!!!

Frankie is a young and beautiful black and white pit bull terrier. He is about eighteen months old. He has some of the most unique markings we have seen.

His story is one that is especially sad to us.

Frankie first came to us when he was about six months old. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in Georgia. He was sweet and loving, with one of the most gentle personalities.

Frankie was adopted following our normal adoption procedures. We thought he had a good life. A few months ago, we received a call from a family that had orignally fostered Frankie for us. Frankie had been dumped in their yard, emaciated and clearly mistreated with a note that said "sorry for the inconvenience." With heavy hearts we took our boy back.

We will never know everything that he has been through, but it is clear it has not been good. In spite of it all, his sweet personality is intact. Frankie needs a chance at a home that will love him and keep him safe FOREVER. If you are not willing to make a life long committment to Frankie or any of our dogs, please do not contact us. Frankie deserves so much more.

Millie
Millie is a pretty brown and white American Pit Bull Terrier. Like many, her story does not start off with happiness.

Millie took shelter in the yard of someone she did not know. We are not sure if she was abandoned or lost but she was clearly hurt and scared.

When we got Millie to our vet, we found she had a badly broken leg. We had originally planned to have surgery to repair her leg, but the recommendation at this time is that the leg has healed, not perfectly but in such a manner that she is not in pain and does not have any problems walking.

Millie needs someone who will understand a dog that doesn't trust easily and is always expecting the worst. She needs someone who is patient with a wounded soul. She needs someone who will love her in spite of what she has been through.

Moo
Moo is a male pit bull puppy, smaller than his sister Mayo.

Moo and Mayo were brought to a local vet's office because they were so sick. The wonderful vet got the two pups back in shape, but then the owner did not want them anymore.

Sometimes Moo lets his sister boss him around. He is not sure about cats, he just found out that they have claws. Moo is happy and playful and looking for a home.

If you would like to meet Moo or his sister Mayo, let us know. They are both at West Chester Pet Care, please stop by and see them. Moo will be neutered and up to date on vaccinations before adoption.

Mayo
ADOPTED!!!!

Mayo is a female pit bull puppy.

She and her brother Moo were very sick, so their owner brought them to a local vet for treatment. The wonderful staff at the vet's office got them all fixed up but then their owner decided she didn't want them anymore.

Mayo is the larger of the two pups. She tries to boss her brother around, which only works for a short time. She is playful and happy and very cute. She just needs a home.

If you would like to meet Mayo or her brother Moo, please come and see them at West Chester Pet Care! Mayo will be spayed and up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption.

Abbott
This is Abbott. He is funny and happy and high spirited.  He loves to play and run.  He has a great smile.  You would never know how horrible his life use to be, before he was rescued.

Abbott used to be a bait dog. Fighting dogs have been in the news lately as law enforcement cracks down on dog fighting rings. We have all seen the scarred survivors as they battle for a chance to live. Abbott is part of that group, only the lesser known part.

Abbott was used to teach the other dogs to fight. His body is covered with scars where he has been bitten. Abbott, however, has the let the past go.  He is happy, and loves other dogs and people. He is ready for a new start.

If you want to give Abbott the chance he deserves, please let us know.

Costello
This very beautiful and very serious young man is Costello. About two years old, Costello is an American Bulldog/ pit mix. His best friend in the world is Abbott.

Costello was a bait dog. His body is covered with scars. His muzzle was taped shut, so he could not fight back when the other dogs attacked him. He has endured things most of us could not imagine.

When Costello came to Bark Ark, he was so afraid he couldn't walk- he had to be carried in and out.  He was waiting for the next terrible thing to happen. Gradually he began to stand taller and walk and even play. He was beginning to believe he was safe. Now he is in a loving and supportive foster home, and everyday is getting better for him.

Costello is ready for a home, but a home that will understand where he has been and how far he has come. A home that will give him the chance to continue healing. If you have a big heart and a lot of patience, this sweet boy is waiting for you.

yager
Yager is beautiful.  He is the kind of dog that people stop and stare at when you are out with him. Golden eyes, honey and golden hair, he is breathtaking to look at.

Yager, as with most of our dogs, does not have a happy story.  We are hoping that his ending will be a good one.

Yager was a much loved and spoiled family member.  His life was disrupted when his family lost their home, like so many others in these times. They had no where for him to go, so they called Bark Ark.  Many tears were shed when they let him go.

Yager lost everything he knew and he has been sad and anxious and fearful as a result.  He is finally beginning to come around and now he is ready for a new life.

Yager needs someone who will understand how much he has lost and be patient with him until he feels safe again. Due to his anxiety, Yager would probably do best as the only dog.  He is sweet and loving and would be worth the effort.

Faith
Faith, formerly known as Piper, is a young mom who has been through hard times. She delivered a litter of ten babies in a shelter and was scheduled to die with her babies in the gas chamber. The shelter called us to help them, and thanks to donations, we were able to pull the little family. Piper is extremely skinny but no longer nursing her pups. She is getting healthy and fit. She is one of the sweetest, most gentle and loving dogs we have had here at Bark Ark. She deserves a wonderful home and lots of tender loving care. Can you give that to this sweet little girl? She will be spayed and up to date on all shots prior to adoption.
honey
Honey is only about a year and a half old. She is quite petite, one of the pits known as pocket pitties.

Honey came to Bark Ark after we received a call from a shelter in Northern Ohio. Honey was pregnant, ready to deliver at any time, and scheduled to be euthanized. A sad story that happens all the time.

Honey gave birth to seven puppies shortly after being rescued.  All seven of her puppies have been adopted, Honey is still looking for a home of her own.

Honey is very very sweet and is thrilled to have attention. It is clear however, that her life has not been an easy one.

Honey can be fearful of other dogs. She would probably do best in a home where she was the only dog. After all she has been through, she deserves it.

Lennon
These are Piper/Faith's pups.

The ten pups came to us with their mother, Faith, when they were only three weeks old. They were rescued from a kill shelter where the whole family was scheduled to be euthanized.

All of the brown and white pups have been adopted, and these four remain.  All are black and white- three are males ( Harrison, McCartney and Lennon) and one is a female (Starr.)

The pups are about ten weeks old. They are adorable with sweet faces and floppy ears.  We believe that dad was a lab, but mom isn't telling!

These very cute pups can be seen at West Chester Pet Care in West Chester Ohio. Please stop by and see them.

Harrison
McCartney
Starr

Oliver is a pit bull puppy who has never known anything but pain and fear in his short life.

Oliver had his jaw broken and was dumped off at a vet by his owners.  The vet surrendered him to a local kill shelter.

At the shelter, he was attacked by another dog.  The shelter just planned to euthanize him, after all, he was just a pit.

One of our wonderful foster homes found out and pulled him.  She is now giving him as much love as she can.  Oliver will always have scars but he is ready for happiness.

BRIDGIE
Bridget Bone's Diary

Dear Diary-

Lose ten pounds....no....get a new job....no....get a family,  yes that's it!

Bridget is a sweet and wonderful one year old pittie girl with just a dash of American Bulldog. She is white with gorgeous splashes of chocolate brown,  Bridget was a mommy once but now she is a single girl looking for love.  At about 35 lbs, she is not big, but full of charm and personality.

Bridget came from an Ohio shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized.  No dog has ever deserved a chance more than this sweet little lady.

Bridget has the sunniest personality of any dog we have known.  She is always smiling.  She is eager to please, she follows every direction given to her, and her tail never stops wagging!

Sarge
Sarge is a three year old pit bull boy from a high kill shelter in Texas. He came from the same shelter as Cletus and Reggi, although he was not on that transport with them. This shelter does not even adopt out bullys, they just euthanize them, but Sarge was so special that they made every effort to try to get him out alive.

Sarge is one of the most beautiful boys we have seen, a gorgeous brindle with just the right white touches, and the most expressive eyes! Take him for a walk and people will turn to stare, he is that gorgeous!

Sarge is wonderful, sweet and obedient.  He has never shown any kind of negative behavior with or toward humans.  However, like many dogs that spent too much time in the traumatic shelter environment, he is still fearful and guarded around other dogs. At this point, we would prefer that our wonderful Sarge go into a home where he can be the only dog.  He is worth it!
